SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday fitted a GPS-enabled tracking anklet on an accused in a narcotics case to monitor his movements and ensure compliance with court-imposed bail conditions, officials said.
The accused, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar and a resident of Zaldoora Dooru, was granted bail by a court with the condition of electronic monitoring. Acting on these directions, police installed the device to enable real-time tracking.
According to officials, the accused is involved in FIR No. 56/2026 registered under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru.
A GPS tracking anklet is a wearable electronic device secured around the ankle, allowing authorities to continuously monitor the location of the accused and ensure adherence to bail conditions.
Police said the step reflects the adoption of modern technology in tackling drug-related offences, enabling stricter surveillance of individuals involved in narcotics cases while strengthening accountability under the law.
