While terming the electronic media houses of India as a part of the military operation going on in Jammu & Kashmir, Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat faction Wednesday said that the Delhi-based news channels are running a propaganda to defame the just and genuine struggle of Kashmiris and are showing wrong picture of Kashmir to the Indian people.
While asking the local reporters working for these channels in Srinagar to perform their professional duties in an honest way, Hurriyat (G) said: “We understand their compulsions and limitations and we also know that they have no say in the editorial policies of these channels and they can’t change that thinking.”
In a statement issued to the press, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Hurriyat (G) doesn’t want to trouble these local reporters working for these channels, “but we want they should aware the editors of these channels about the ground realities of Jammu & Kashmir and make them understand that the issues over which they make hue and cry and try to misled the general public of India are actually no issues in Jammu & Kashmir and there is nothing new in these issues.”
This process, he said, is going on in Jammu & Kashmir from last 68 years.
“And whether it is national day of Pakistan or the cricket match of Pakistan, every child of Kashmir expresses his happiness over their every win.”
He said that if the waving of Pakistan flag is the case of “waging war against India” then India has to file charges against the millions of Kashmiri people.
The spokesman said that the reporters associated with the New Delhi-based news channels in Srinagar for the purpose of earning livelihood, can without any difficulty continue their work, “however while reporting any occasion or incident, they should honestly discharge their professional duties and try to highlight the truth in that.”
They should, Ayaz said, also try to raise their voice and concern against the negative and false propaganda of these channels.
Hurriyat (G) further said that these reporters are our children and we don’t want to snatch their livelihood.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) is going to hold a seminar titled “Policies of RSS and our responsibilities” on April 29, “which is aimed to highlight the dangerous agenda of this fascist party”.
“The seminar will be conducted under the chair of Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani and the prominent leaders, intellectuals, writers and lawyers will express their point of view in the scheduled seminar,” the spokesman said.
