APPOINTED:

This week witnessed three different appointments. Sajjad Ahmed Khan has been appointed as the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Poonch, Itrat Hussain Rafique as Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara and Sarmad Hafeez took over as Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal. All the three resumed their duties immediately after joining the new post.

ELECTROCUTED:

Ayaz Ahmed Sheikh, a tipper driver and a resident of Nusoo Bandipora received an electric shock when his vehicle came in contact with 33,000 Volt high Tension Line at Kaloosa, Bandipora. He was immediately shifted to the hospital but he succumbed. Besides, Sheikh’s vehicle had caught fire after coming in contact with the high tension line.

RECOVERED:

Body of Lance Stanzin Thapa of 3rd Bn of Ladakh Scouts was recovered by the Leh police from the banks of River Indus at Stakna, Leh. Thapa, a resident of Karsha Zanskar, Kargil had gone missing on April 18, 2013. Leh police has initiated an inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPC in this regard.

ARRESTED:

Police along with CRPF and 19 RR have arrested Bilal Ahmad Mir and Shabir Ahmad Khan, two Over Ground Workers (OGW), and recovered 04 IED’s from Kokernag. It is the third module busted in district Islamabad during this month. Police have registered a case and interrogation of the arrested duo is on.

DIRECTED:

High Court has directed the Principal Secretary, Forest Department and the Director Forest Protection Force to furnish information on the outcome of proposal regarding re-designation of Forest Protection Force (FPF) Computer Operators with avenues of vertical progression within a period of six weeks.

MISSING:

Two AK-47 Rifles, 6 magazines and 180 rounds of ammunition of Personal Security Officers (PSOs) of Farooq Ahmed Sheikh, an NC man, have gone missing. Besides, his two PSOs are absconding from the duty since then. The house of the NC leader is highly guarded by a platoon of 14th Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force Personnel (CRPF) and all the visitors are frisked by the CRPF before entering the premises.

ARRESTED:

Agra police have arrested Dayal Bagh’s grandson. Bagh is Santsangh Sabha’s President and former Director of University, Dayal Bagh Institute, and his aide, a young laboratory Technician for the murder of Neha Sharma, 25, a research scholar in the University complex on March 15, 2013 in Agra. Police have started to investigate the matter but it is yet to ascertain whether the researcher of nan0-technology was raped before murder or not.

SETUP:

50 RR of Army’s counter insurgency Victor Force has set-up a camp in Wuyun of South Kashmir to put pressure on militants in the area. It is believed that they have been re-grouping for past one year. The step of setting up an army camp is taken to prevent militants from targeting Srinagar and National Highway from LeT and Hizbul Mujhadeen.

RECORDED:

An NIA led by Dy SP Shrinivasan recorded the statements of Amina Begum of Sever, Lolab, and Akhter-u-Nisa of Dardpora, Kupwara, two wives of Syed Liyaqat Shah, before a local magistrate. Shah, a resident of Dardpora, Lolab is a former Hizb militants who was arrested by Delhi Police special cell from the Sanauli check-post on Indo-Nepal border near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on March 20.

DISTRIBUTED:

J&K Bank distributed 400 Kissan Credit cards (KCC) at Chatergul, Ganderbal at a function organized by the bank. This policy of the Bank is helping in betterment of the farmers, an official attending the function said, and he encouraged farmers to make maximum use of these schemes.

DIED:

Hardeep Singh, 35, a laborer died in an accident while working on a Tunnel Boring Machine at a tunnel construction site of Kishan Ganga Hydro Electric Power Project at Bandipora. Police have registered a case in this regard and investigations are on.

FILED:

SIT of police probing the killing of Wamiq Farooq in 2010 filed its investigation report, case diaries and other relevant material in the case before a local court. The court has now directed to secure the CD and other material. The case is listed next on May 11, 2013. Wamiq was killed on January 31, 2010 near Gani Memorial stadium, Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar, when a tear gas shell allegedly hit him on his head.

DECIDED:

Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) has decided to construct around 500 flats in Bemina, Srinagar. The decision was taken at a meeting of SDA officers presided by Vice Chairman, Mohammed Shafi Rather. The officials have expressed satisfaction over the locations identified for the construction of flats given the accessibility to JVC hospital, four-lane highway and upcoming Bus terminal in Shalteng.
