SEIZED:

Army recovered and seized four AK rifles and ammunition from Sabjian, Poonch near LoC in two days. As per the Army inputs, the militants had made an infiltration attempt in the same area but failed. The officials now have apprehensions that the arms might have been kept there by the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and were to be picked up by the militants.

SENT:

Shiv Krishan Sharma, the encounter specialist cop, and Mohammed Ayoob, a head constable, Shiv’s personal guard have been sent on judicial custody for 15 days by Munsif Judge Doda. This order came in the back drop of refusal of police / judicial custody remand by successive courts sighting the reason that it is not their jurisdiction under Prevention and Suppression of Sabotage Act to either sanction police remand or sent the accused cops to judicial custody.

PREPARED:

State government has prepared Rs 91.56 crore package for the return and rehabilitation of the Jammu migrants and is likely to be sanctioned in the next cabinet. The government has observed that with the improvement in the law and order situation, the Jammu migrants from Doda, Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri have started visiting their native places and there is no problem in getting them rehabilitated in their native places.

VISITED:

K Rajendra, the Director General of Prison, J&K, visited Central Jail, Srinagar and has directed measures for the up-gradation of vocational training facilities in the jail. Rajender has stressed upon jail authorities for furthering various reformative programmes that can go a long way in making jail inmates self-reliant so that they cannot face problems in the society once they are released.

INJURED:

Mohammed Shafi, a resident of Poonch, has been injured when Pakistani soldiers fired indiscriminate along the Line of Control (LoC) after an infiltration bid was foiled by Indian troops, an Indian Army PRO said. A group of four armed persons from Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) were seen moving towards an Indian forward post in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district, the PRO added.

INAUGRATED:

With an aim to expedite the process of Library Automation in the state Allama Iqbal library, University of Kashmir has started a five day ‘Information and Library Network’ (INFLIBNET) Regional Training Programme in Library Automation for library professionals. The programme has been started in collaboration with INFLIBNET Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The university authorities say it is the need of the hour as people today prefer to access the research material, journals and books online.

RELEASED:

A book titled ‘Kashmir and Sher-e-Kashmir’, written by P L D Parimoo, has been released in a function organized by Funkar Cultural Organization, Kashmir. Dr Mustafa Kamal was the chief guest and Ajay Sadhotra was the guest of honour. The function was also attended by other dignitaries.

SHUTDOWN:

As per the Power Development Department in order to carry out routine maintenance and branch cutting, power supply from the 33 KV feeder Wanganpora-BAMK, Wanganpora- Khanyar shall be affected on June 24, 2013 from 09 am to 06 pm. In Wanganpora- Soura the power supply shall be affected on June 26, 2013 from 09 am to 06 pm. Besides, Rawalpora-Silk Factory 33 KV line and Budgam- Budgam 33 KV line, power supply from these lines shall be affected on June 22, 2013 from 10 am to 04 pm and June 23, 2013 from 09 am to 01 pm respectively. The 33 KV line Rawalpora- Budgam shall also be affected on June 22, 24 and 26, 2013 from 10 am to 04 pm.

RECOVERED:

During a surprise inspection conducted by enforcement Wing of Handicrafts Quality Control Division at Airport Srinagar and a number of areas of Rajbagh Tourist areas caught some dealers selling fake items in the name of Kashmiri Handicrafts without any valid registration. The enforcement wing penalized the defaulters and realized Rs 7000 from them on account of violation Tourist Trade Act, 1978.

COMMITTED:

Khalid Hussain Bhat, 27, resident of Chontipora, Verinag committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence. Bhat was shifted to Sub district hospital, Islamabad but succumbed.

INAUGRATED:

The Chief Justice of India in presence of the Chief Minster, Omar Abdullah, inaugurated State Judicial Academy Complex at Moominabad, Srinagar. The dignitaries on the occasion said that the academy would help in a good way to clear the litigations as early as possible and would nurture budding judicial officers. The Chief Justice said that reputed and learned faculty from all over India would be visiting the academy.
