BOOKED:

Hafiz Syed Kifayat of Dhandal, Doda, an Imam of Jamia Masjid Qazigund has been arrested and booked under PSA for inciting people to stage protests and indulge in stone pelting in the area when communal violence had rocked Kishtwar, police says. Imam has been shifted to Kathua jail. The residents of the area are protesting and demanding his release.

INJURED:

Two armymen were injured when they stepped on an anti-personnel mine near the LoC in Keran sector in border district of Kupwara. Both the men suffered injuries in their feet and were shifted to the hospital. In a separate incident, mother-daughter duo in residential house at Eidgah near a CRPF camp. A team of experts were rushed to the spot to ascertain the nature of the blast, investigations are on.

ARRESTED:

Ishfaq Ahmed and Mohammed Zakheer, two policemen have been arrested and two Chinese-made pistols, two magazines and four live rounds from their possession in Rajouri district. The duo has been sent for questioning and some more arrests and recoveries are likely to be effected in the coming days, the officer said. He added,the accusedwere put under the scanner for use of drugs and other activities in the past.

FAILED:

The family members of a minor girl from Nidddora, Dooru allege that police has failed to trace their daughter for past 14 days.  Police said a case under section 363, 109/RPC has been registered against Raja, for allegedly kidnapping the girl. The family members along with the residents of Dooru, Verinag have been protesting against the police.

JOINED:

Abdul Rashid, former chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and National Conference leader has joined opposition party PDP. Dar after getting warm welcome in PDP said he was disillusioned with the performance of the NC-led government which “has failed to honour its pledges to the people made during the last elections”.

DIED:

Alam Din Bijran and his sister-in-law of Kathuhallan, Shopian consumed some poisonous substance at their home. Both of them were shifted to Public Health Center, Keller for treatment, where from they were referred to SMHS hospital. The woman succumbed but Bijran is admitted still admitted. Police has registered a case and are trying to ascertain the reason of attempting suicide. The woman’s body is handed over to the family for last rites.

TAKEN:

Prof MuhammedAfzalZargar took charge as the new Register of Central University of Kashmir. Prof Zargar has served as HOD of Biochemistry and Chief Proctor of the University of Kashmir. He has also been the member of academic and administrative bodies/authorities of various institutions, including University of Kashmir, SKUAST-K, JamiaHamdard, New Delhi and University of Jammu.

TURNED:

One of the three picnic buses from Government Degree College Nowshere, Rajourimet an accident near Reasi when it was returning to Nowshera and five students received minor injuries. Rest of the students were brought out of the bus safely.

RESCUED:

Chinore police have rescued 5 bovine animals while the smugglers managed to escape the spot. On specific inputs a police party laid a naka at Khari and intercepted a load carrier and recovered the animals. A case under FIR number 313/13 under Section 188 RPC has been registered and manhunt launched to arrest the absconding driver.

NOMINATED:

Dr InduKoulKhoda, professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecolgy, GMC, Jammu has been nominated as the member of the Institute Body, the highest decision making body of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, which is one of the six new AIIMS established under PradhanMantriSwasthyaSurakshaYojana. Dr Indu is wife of former DG JK police,KuldeepKhoda. She is also president of Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society of India, Jammu and life member of Indian Medical Association, Association of Gynaecological Oncologists of India.

HELD:

Police have arrested an absconder, Bhagha Ram, who was evading his arrest for the past 12 years.  The absconder was involved in a case registered with RS Pura Police Station under FIR number 90/2001 under Section 344, 323 and 325 RPC and was evading his arrest since then, he added.The accused was produced in the Court of Law.

RETRIEVED:

Revenue Department cancelled all the illegal allotments of the 28 people who had illegally encroached about 289 kanal and 18 marlas of the State land with Khasra No 1384/1367/1295/1282 in Harni area. The department’s visited many sites and removed the illegal encroachment by destroying the fodder crops sown on the State land.The anti-encroachment drive was conducted under the overall supervision of Assistant Commissioner, revenue, Poonch, Shafiq Ahmed.

RECOVRED:

Police recovered Rs 50 lakh from owners of Hajeej who duped Hajj aspirants in 2011 while they had earlier recovered Rs 2.38 crore from them. The money has been deposited in the account of Principal District and Session’s Court Srinagar. The amount was recovered after auctioning the accused’s property. In 2011, hundreds of Hajj aspirants were duped by Hajeej India Hospitality Company. Police registered a case (FIR No. 58/2011) in Police Station Khanyar.
