CONSTITUTED:

District Reasi has decided to constitute an anti-encroachment cell to conduct a survey, prepare a report about the illegal constructions in the holy town of Katra and initiate action under law against the encroachers. The decision was taken by Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, District Magistrate (DM), Reasi in order to take measures and check the illegal constructions in and around shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.

ARRESTED:

Police have arrested Dharam Chand of Kheri, Milkhi Kumar of Ratnal and Tilak Kumar Ratnal, three gamblers, along with Rs 2100 stake money and play cards. Police have started investigations and have registered a case under section 13 Gambling Act at Bishnah Police Station.

ABSCONDING:

Police have arrested Raj Kumar of Kot, Gharota and Hans Raj of Zanana, Bhaderwah, district Doda, two absconders, who were evading their arrests since long. Cases under section Section 458, 427, 376 and 34 RPC with Police Station Gharota and Kathua have been registered against them and investigations are on.

DIRECTED:

State high court directed that all drug samples should be taken to more than one drug testing laboratories for re-testing and the results be matched. The court directed that the 156 drug samples taken by Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation from hospital and chemist shops in April should be sent to two labs to clear the doubt as far as their reports are concerned. The decision is taken after the spurious drug scam was exposed in the state in April this year.

RECRUITED:

A total of 191 recruits including 107 from Jammu and Kashmir, 75 from Uttar Pradesh, one from Odissa, 3 from West Bengal, 2 from Assam, one from Madhya Pradesh, 42 graduates and 73 Class 12th pass-outs have been recruited in BSF. The 34 week training programme which equips new recruits with basic training for performing duties on border and in counter insurgency operations concluded this week. The details were shared in the attestation cum passing parade held at Subsidary Training Centre (STC), BSF, Udhampur.

INAUGRATED:

Mian Altaf, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, inaugurated office complex of State Forest Research Institute here at Sonwar, completed at a cost of Rs. 80 lakh besides he released a book on Biodiversity Studies in Gurez. The Minister also presided over the Governing Body meeting of State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) and said that eleven research projects while 15 field functionaries of the Institute have been deputed for advanced nursery training course to FRI Dehradun.

INAUGRATED:

B R Kundal, Former Minister and MLC, inaugurated cremation ground shed at village Jagtu Chack constructed with an amount of Rs 2.15 lakh. While interacting with the locals he talked about his commitments toward his people and their betterment.

ESCAPED:

Gourav Dutt, an army-man, a resident of Jhanger, escaped after making rape attempt on a woman while she was working in her fields in Nowshera, Rajouri. Since then Dutt is at large. Police have lodged an FIR and are trying to locate the culprit.

SEIZED:

Hoshiyar Singh, a drug peddler, was arrested by Nowabad police here for allegedly possessing 1 kilogram heroin worth around Rs 5 crore in international market. Singh is the resident of Bhaderwah, Doda. A case under FIR number 143/13 under Section 8/21/7 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nowabad Police Station and investigation has started.

RETRIEVED

Body of Irfan Ahmad Dar, 8, has been retrieved from nallah Migund. Dar, a resident of Aarina, Budgam drowned in the nallah after cloudburst and hailstorm.

BOOKED:

Police have slapped two major provisions of anti-militancy laws on four police personnel arrested in Rajouri as more evidence has poured in about their involvement in terror links, smuggling of weapons and extortions. Police have decided to send all four to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC), Jammu for sustained questioning to ascertain their involvement in more activities.

DIED:

Two brothers, Mohammed Sadam, 6, and Mohammed Sultan, 4, died after their house collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Baglakote Swadi, Koteranka. At the time of incident the duo were alone in the house as their parents had gone out to work. Reported the newly constructed house could not bear the heavy rainfall and collapsed.

AWRADED:

Principal session Judge Jammu has awarded 17 years rigorous imprisonment to Ghulam Farid of Ropar, Bhimber, Mohd Imran of Dera Nawab Khan and Mohd Abdullah of Haripur, three Pakistanis  Nationals, who were working as militants of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Jammu and Kashmir. The trio was arrested by Special Operation Group on December 21, 2008 along with one AK rifle with two loaded magazine, four hand grenades and three pistols.

DEAD:

Abdul Rasheed Sofi alias Rasheed Gazi, a member of People’s League, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Potkha Wagoora, Baramulla. Gazi had gone to Islamabad offer his condolences to Tariq Ahmad Waza, whose mother had expired recently. He didn’t return home after that and his body was found with torture marks and bruises over it near railway track in Kreeri, the locals allege. He had travelled to Islamabad in train and was accompanied by his party colleagues.
