COMMITTED:

Satish Chander (21), son of Jai Chand of Uttrakhand and belonging to 198 Field Regiment located at Dhani Dhar area used his service rifle to commit suicide. He fired a bullet on his head and died on the spot. The state police have registered a case and started an investigation.

HELD:

Ghagwal police rescued 16 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers, Raj Kumar, Vipin Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Sunny Kumar, and Sandeep Choudhary. They are all residents of RS Pura. An FIR under relevant sections has been registered at police Station Ghagwal and investigations have started.

BOOKED:

Police have registered a case under relevant sections against ex-Corporator and National Conference (NC) leader Rashida Begum for misbehaving and threatening Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu. The tiff off was over the issue of state subject. Police have conducted searches to nab Rashida Begum but she has gone underground.

MURDERED:

Said Mohammed, 65, son of Wali Mohammed, resident of village Kakora in Mankote was murdered by his relatives in Majakote area, Rajouri. The police have registered a case against Wazir Mohammed, the accused person but he is at large. Wazir Mohd is the neighbour and also father-in-law of Said’s daughter. Both the families had quarrel which turned into a bloody scuffle, Wazir was killed by some lethal weapon.

SOLVED:

Akhnoor police solved the murder case of Mohammad Abdullah alias Dulla with the arrest of the accused within 24 hours. Abdullah’s body tied with ropes and sand bags was found in a rivulet on the banks of the Chenab at Garkhal. After recovering the body, police have registered a case under relevant sections at police station Akhnoor and investigations have started. During investigations, police have rounded up some suspects out of which one of the suspect broke down and admitted to have murdered Mohammad Abdullah.

PULLS-UPS:

High Court pulled up state for failure of its counsels to appear before the court leading to unnecessary delay in disposal of the cases. “Though the delay in disposal of the cases is due to many reasons yet the one apparent and avoidable is the non-appearance as well as proper assistance of the counsel for the State. State being a major litigant is required to make effective arrangements for attending/defending their cases in the court,” the court maintained.

DIRECTED:

In a petition filed by Ashok Kumar challenging the tentative seniority list of Patwaris, High Court has granted a four weeks last opportunity to the official respondents for filing reply failing which Divisional Commissioner Jammu will have to appear in person on the next date of hearing. The official respondents without going into the record and without considering the objection of the petitioner have finalized the seniority list, the petition said.

ARRESTED:

Police have arrested both the accused, Vikas alias Khatta, resident of Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu and Munish Kumar alias Munshi, resident of Dogra Hall, involved in a shoot-out in Samba district and seized the weapon of offence. They had attacked Pardeep Singh alias Tony, resident of Vijaypur with sharp edged weapons and later fired upon him thus injuring him critically. However, a case under relevant sections has been registered and investigations have started.

DENIED:

High Court has rejected the bail applications of two forest officers of the State who allegedly purchased question papers of Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) Common Entrance Test (CET)-2012 to get their sons admitted in MBBS course. The court observed: “It is true that the personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India is of great importance. Incarceration is permissible only after accused is convicted and sentenced but grant of bail to safeguard personal liberty is controlled by reasonable exception.”

LOCKED:

In order to check the punctuality and regularity of the teachers in schools of Panchari zone, a special drive has been started by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Panchari Pawan Slathia. During the surprise visit in Govt PS Novel, the school was found locked and the students who had come to the school for receiving education had to go back to their respective homes. Taking cognizance of the matter, salary of Sushma Devi and Jyoti Verma, ReT Teachers have been stopped with immediate effect.
