ARRESTED: After one and a half years of investigation, three employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI) involved in the embezzlement of 40-50 truckloads of ration were arrested by CBI. The CBI complained of no cooperation from the FCI authorities.

AMPUTATED: Masrat Fatima, 14, daughter of Nazir Hussian from Tangdhar while collecting firewood came in contact with an explosive device which exploded resulting in injuring her right arm critically. This year about 15 people have died and 17 injured due to the littered explosives in J&K.

DIRECTED: High Court directed Additional Advocate General to file a report of investigation into the killing of 19 members of three families in Surankote,Poonch in 1998. The 19 members ranging an age group of 4-17 years included a pregnant lady.

MET: P Chidambaram, union home minister has decided to hire and train at least 40,000 youth of J&K to develop skill and employment through ‘Udaan’, a special  industry initiative. The decision was taken in a meeting attended by chiefs and senior officials of 28 PSU’s including Indian Oil, Power Finance Corporation, BHEL, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, State Bank of India, SteelAuthority of India (SAIL) and NTPC.

SPLIT: The senior members of Jamaat-i-Islami have thought of forming a parallel Jamaat resulting in a split of a 65 year old party. Some decisions and activities of the main party have forced senior members to seperate from it. Prof Mohammed Abdullah Shaida, an educationist, is heading the parallel newly formed Jamaat group.

SHIFTED: The shifting of officials from SHRC, a headless commission from October’ 11, is making it hard to operate. Inspector General of Police (IGP) posted in there was shifted, other official got retired recently and a staffer of the rights body was diverted to the one man Commission of Inquiry (COI) of Justice Bedi probing the mysterious death of SayeedMuhammed Yousuf, a NC worker.

ORDERED: Sopore court has ordered reinvestigation through scientific means into the death of Azad Ahmed Lone, 19, a labourer from Hadipora, Sopore. According to police he has committed suicide five months ago in the kitchen of dairy farms owned by Ghulam Rasool Parray. But family of the deceased are apprehensive of a conspiracy.

REFUSED: SKUAST  has refused sanction for prosecution of six top officials whose name also figured in the challan of State Vigilance organisation (SVO). All the six are allegedly politically or administratively well connected but both Raj Bhawan and state government have maintained silence over the matter.

DIED: Subedar Dharam Singh Jamwal a witness of many wars and a part of the team defending the Indian borders from foreign invasions died at the age of 105 years after a brief illness. He has also served the last Dogra Maharaja in Kashmir.

REVEALED: In reply to RTI application filed by Nasrullah Shah it was revealed that SKUAST-K has circulated notices of available 490 varsity posts and failed to issue public notices in the regard.  Seeing the irregularity in the recruitment policies Mir is thinking of knocking the door of State Accountability Commission (SAC).

QUESTIONED: Questioning the rationale of continuing with the AFSPA in J&K NHRC has said the government itself has agreed that country does not face any armed conflict situation. The observation came in its second universal periodic review of human rights in the country.

SOUGHT: CBI has sought details of land records from state’s revenue department as well as from Indian Air Force after registering apreliminary Enquiry (PE) in an alleged land scam around high security Srinagar airport. Besides, staterevenue department has initiated an inter department probe to fixresponsibilitiesif anyone is found guilty of giving NOCs to private builders.

BENIFITTED: The ruling of high court, which banned the in-service teacher from holding private coaching classes is benefitting the non statecoaching centres which allegedly charge hefty amounts from the students. Local stakeholders have urged to review the court decision of banning private tuitions in Kashmir.

DUMPED: Irrigation and flood control (I&FC) rather than de-siltingthe river near new ZainaKadal have dumped more than 50 trucks of soil in itposing a grave threat to the river. Locals have lodged an FIR in PS Maharaj Gunj.The act has put a question mark on the functioning of the department.

ARRESTED: Constable Shabir Ahmed of Pahalgham was arrested fortrying to immolate his wife and a case is registered against him charging him for attempt to murder.
