ARRESTED: Parveen Shangloo, a senior manager of Punjab National bank, Reasi branch was arrested by a CBI team for allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from a shopkeeper for sanctioning a loan of Rs 2 lakh in his favour under self employment scheme.

LIFER:
Ajay Kumar, son of Tara Chand of Rajouri was awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 after 16 years of trial. Ajay had killed Bishamber Dass, when he demand his money back which Ajay had borrowed long ago.  

PETITIONED: Haji Mohammed Sadiq Mir and Abdul Aziz Najar approached the High Court with a Public Interest Litigation, seeking quashing of two governments orders vide numbers PCCF/Lease/Seeds/3493-98 dated October 18, 2011 and PCCF/Lease/Seeds/5480-86 dated October 18, 2011 under which two local contractors were issued permits to collect Doedar seeds on royalty basis.

ARRESTD: Sita Devi, 40 and her paramour Sunil Kumar, 32, were arrested for killing Rattan Lal, 60, Sita’s husband. All the three are from RS Pora, Jammu. Rattan was found dead in the fields.

PROTESTED: Mirwaiz South Kashmir, Qazi Yasir, protested against the sale of liquor in the Valley. He urged people to continue the protest till there is a complete ban on the sale of liquor.
OPENED: Government is opening an office of the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) in view of enhancing employability in the state, Mubarak Gul, Advisor to CM said in a high level meeting at Jammu.  

PLANNED:
Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir, introduced a new scheme for the development of adventure tourism in Gulmarg. This scheme, authorities say, will also provide rehabilitation prospects to ponywallas of Gulmarg and Tangmarg.  

EARNED:
Department of Legal Metrology (LM) has earned an income of Rs 4.58 lakh during the last three months in Kashmir division as against Rs 1.72 lakh earned during last year in the same time. The consumer protection wing of the department, has realized Rs 292498 and the sum of composite fine from the offenders is Rs 165,850.

DRAWN:
Arrears of about 10 crore are drawn in favour of 120 legislators and a number of former ones including chief minister, ministers and presiding officers. The implementation of revised perks will be with effect from Sep 9, 2009. The emoluments of each lawmaker will range between Rs 80,000 to 90,000 a month.

SURVIVED:
Former bureaucrat Charanjeet Singh Jasrotia, a diabetic, survived after suffering from cerebelar infaract and diabetic ketoacidosis in brain. He was shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali from GMC Jammu. His condition is stated as stable.  

Jailed: Rinku, son of Som Dutt of Akhnoor has been awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15000 for kidnapping and raping a minor girl.  Police has registered a case in 2003.

AWARDED: Mohammed Ashaf, head constable was awarded seven years of rigorous imprisonment for issuing fake appointment orders of constables. Ashraf had conned many people and collected Rs 690,000 as bribe from many aspirants for police jobs.

ARRESTED: Shankar Dass of Udhampur and his wife Gullan Devi were arrested for burning alive their daughter-in-law, Pinky Devi. Pinky was critically injured and succumbed to her injuries after giving her statement to the police.

MISSING: Ghulam Muhammed Bhat, 64, of Sumbal has gone missing during Hajj pilgrimage. Bhat was in contact with the family till Oct 24 and was complaining of ill health, according to his family.

INTERACTED: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, Munir Khan, interacted with 50 released militants from Baramulla to discuss their rehabilitation plan.

UP: With the recent snowfall, subsequent freezing cold and slippery roads the bone fracture cases have increased by 30 per cent. The hospital authorities in Bone and joint hospital are saying the figures may increase as the freezing cold continues.

APPOINTED: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT),  New Delhi has appointed Arun Kumar Thatai is appointed as the commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu and Kashmir Circle.

COMMITTED: A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poisonous substances in Budgam. She was shifted to a hospital but couldn’t survive.
