DECORATED: Governer N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan awarded 525 police personnel with President’s Police medals for gallantry and for distinguished and meritorious services. The ceremony was held after about 8 years.

EXTENDED: The justice Bedi commission has been given a month’s extension for submitting its report regarding Muhammed Yousuf Shah’s custodial death case. Initially it was give six weeks to complete the probe.

PLANNING: Indian Oil Corporation is planning to extend oil pipelines from Ambala to Himachal Pradesh and from Jalandar to J&K to reduce the transportation costs. The project may cost Rs 600 cr. Presently, road networks were used for transportation.
 
MET: Traders across the border met and settled their accounts and a total of 20 disputed cases by mutual understanding were solved. This was the second traders meet this year and was held at Rah- e-Milan Chakan-Da-Bagh.

RECOVERED: Natalie Gregorova, a Russian tourist who went missing while skiing in the higher reaches of Gulmarg in north Kashmir has been recovered by a search cum rescue joint operation launched by Police, Tourism department and Cable Car Corporation.

CHARGED:
Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, an aide of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and three others – Muhammad Sidiq Ganai, Ghulam Jeelani Liloo and Farooq Ahmed Dagga, have been charged for alleged involvement in money laundering to fund terror. The four are charged for committing offences under various provisions of anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Their trial would be on April 16.

VACATED: After central government took the decision of reducing the presence of troops in cities 39 bunkers were removed – 12 of them makeshift ones. However, there are still 367 bunkers in the city and the government is not sending any requisition for the removal of these bunkers. What may be hindering the removal of bunkers is their alternate accommodation which is the state government’s responsibility, sources say.

SURVIVED:
Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani, DGP Kuldeep Khoda, and other 150 passengers had a narrow escape when a Spice Jet flight had a technical snag while flying over Pir Panchal mountains. The plane was going from Srinagar to Jammu.

ARRESTED:
Police arrested Mohammed Aslam and claims him to be a hawala operator of the militants. He was arrested from Talab Tillo and Police says a sum of Rs 3.44 lakh of hawala money has been recovered from him. Police have registered a case against him and investigations are on.

DIRECTED: The High Court directed the Director SKIMS to take immediate steps for the plastic surgery of Yasmeen, a student, who suffered physical disabilities after a high tension electric line struck their school at Shariefabad in April, 2004. Three other students had died in the incident. The hospital authorities have to respond till first week of April when the next hearing is due.

ARRESTED: Amjad Hussain, resident of Kotli in Pakistan administered Kashmir was detained by the sleuths of customs when he crossed the line of Control in Rawalakote-Poonch bus. He is claimed to have been carrying Indian currency worth Rs 10,500.

VISITED:
Advisor to prime minister T K A Nair, visited Kashmir and met chief minister Omar Abdullah. The two discussed development issues of the state besides the overall positive environment marked by peace, heavy tourist arrival and outlook of summer 2012.

ARRESTED:
Surekha Devi and Dhan Raj, her alleged paramour, both from Jammu were arrested for murdering Sunil Singh, Surekha’s husband. Singh was a truck driver and was killed in February 2012. Both the accused have confessed to committing the crime, police said.

REDUCED:
A Division Bench of the J&K High Court has reduced the fee for RTI Act applications in the state. The court ordered the reduction while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the high fee for J&K RTI Act, filed by B R Manhas, a practicing lawyer. The PIL has termed the fee prescribed by state government as ‘unreasonable’ and ‘much higher’ than that of the Central government.   The reduced fee will be effective till the next hearing of the case.

ARRESTED:
Tasleema Begum, 25, wife of alleged Hizb commander Shakir Hussain alais Chota Hafiz was detained at Tatapani, Kishtwar. Police suspects Tasleema is involved in the last year’s Delhi blast. Three people, including a teenager, have been arrested in this connection. Besides, Tasleema’s parents were also quizzed by the police.
