Honoured: Media Federation of India honoured the Director Information and Public Relations, Jammu and Kashmir State, Khawaja Farooq Renzushah with Media Excellence Awards-2012. He was awarded for excellence in the field of media, dissemination of information and his contribution in literary activities. Renzushah is the author of 11 books and has already received various awards at international and national levels.

AWARDED: Out of 125,000 companies of India, FIL Industries Ltd, a Kashmir based company, was awarded ‘Company of the year’ in the Agriculture input and non-farm sector at ‘Emerging India Award 2012’. The function was held at Taj Lands Ends, Mumbai. Tariq Bukhari received the award on the behalf of the company.

HONOURED: Rather than starting for a probe into the recently leaked scandal of crore of rupees in JKCA, its chairman, Mohammed Aslam Goni, is sent to South Africa as BCCI’s manager. Goni is fourth manager of BCCI in the last four months. Farooq Abdullah is the President of JKCA and Goni is his political advisor.

BAILED: Vinod Koul, ex relief commissioner (migrant) has been granted anticipatory bail by the J&K High court in the multi-crore service tax scam. The bail is valid till next hearing. The court however directed Koul not to move out of station and make himself available for the interrogation by State Vigilance Organisation when asked.

CHARGED: Gharu Ram, Proprietor M/s Jai Lakshmi Rice Mill and Vinod Kumar, the then Patwari Halqa Chohala, R S Pura were charged in a case of cheating of Rs 1.30 crore. Ram had produced forged revenue papers prepared by Kumar while asking for a loan from Punjab National Bank in 2007.  They have been charged under sections 120-B, 420/468/471/469 of RPC and 5(2), 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act.

TAKEN UP: The long pending Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch railway line via Akhnoor will be taken up on priority with special financial provisions, Railway Minister Mukul Roy, replying to a question in the Lok Sabha said. This railway line is prioritized because it connects strategic areas all along the Line of Control.

RECOMMENDED: Neil H MacBride, an American prosecutor has approached a US court and requested it to grant reduction in offenses level of Ghulam Nabi Fai. Fai, 62, has been charged with receiving funds from ISI to fund his lobbying efforts in America related to Kashmir.

DEMANDED: The Muttahida Ulema-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat w-al-Jamaat (MUASWJ) demanded an investigation into the attack on their head Pir Jalal ud din at Batamaloo in Srinagar. He and his supporters carried out marches in Batmaloo. MUASWJ leaders complained that the spiritual leaders believing in saints and shrines are targeted of a concerted campaign in Kashmir.
PLANNING: Indian Air Force is planning to convert Kargil air base into one of the largest air stations in North India by acquiring 2000 kanals of land from Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil. Its runway will also be increased from 6000ft to 12,000 ft.

PENDING: Almost 7310 cases of domestic discord and maintenance are pending in the courts across the state. Dowry is taken to be the main cause of the discord. About 80,000 cases are pending in the state’s high court for shortage of judges in the court.

DIED: Four children in Fargla Surankote, Poonch died and other 14 children were hospitalized of a mysterious, ‘Kharsa’ type disease. Panic has been created in whole of the area.

DELAYED: The deadline of a project of supplying water from Chenab to meet the increasing potable water demand in Jammu City has been raised from 2015 to 2025. The new deadline was set after consultants engaged in conducting survey for the project expressed doubts over its success. Governments had formulated a plan to lift 100 cusecs of water from Chenab to meet the future needs of the city.

WAITING: Due to the huge rush in SKIMS about 130 cancer patients are waiting for their turn to get operated. It is said that the delay in the treatment is because of the unavailability of cancer surgeons. Hospital records reveal that six patients have died in the last few months as they couldn’t be operated in time due to a long waiting list.
