CLAIMED:  Nasir Aslam Wani, minister of state for home claimed the culprits of the Silver Star hotel shootout have been identified. He didn’t reveal any details. The three star hotel was attacked by four suspected LeT militants in which two junior employees of the hotel died and other two sustained injuries.

DIED: Hemanth Kumar, 14, a ninth standard student from south India died when a horse kicked him at Pahalgam. He was on a 15-day tour along with other 245 children. The tour was arranged by Veeramachaneni Paddayya Siddhartha Public School. A case of accident has been registered by the police.

FELICITATED: Savita Gupta, a resident of Jammu was felicitated in a function organized by BJP’s J&K unit after becoming the mayor of south Delhi. She was accompanied by her husband, Satish Gupta, senior BJP leader, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and her Delhi Municipal Corporation colleague corporators, Rajni Multani and Anil Sabharwal.

ORGANIZED: Indian Army under their project “Sadbhavana” organized an educational cum motivational four-day tour to Infantry school in Mhow for 24 Kashmiri students. “The tour was organized with an aim to instill a sense of awareness, spread national integration, provide an exposure to the development in other parts of the country and encourage them to work towards peace and harmony in their state”, the army press release read.

APPROVED: UGC has approved the provision of two seats for the students of J&K under supernumerary quota in universities and colleges outside the state. The main objective of the scheme is to encourage students to pursue higher studies in institutions of higher learning located outside the state.  The students will be provided scholarships to cover tuition fees and hostel fees, costs of books and other incidental charges.

SANCTIONED: Union ministry for communication and IT has sanctioned Rs 40 crores for Common Service Centre project in J&K to support the state government’s e-governance initiative. This was announced while the union minister along with state’s chief minister launched country-wide outreach program at Ganderbal. The union minister also announced an extension centre of National Institute of Electronics and IT in Leh, Ladakh.

ARRESTED: Police arrested Maan Singh for killing his wife, Kanta Devi, who later trying to dispose-off the body by setting it ablaze in Dudu Basantbagh, Udhampur.  The body has been shifted to hospital for post-mortem while a case under FIR number 30/12 under Section 302 RPC was registered at police station Basantgarh and investigation has been started to ascertain the reason behind the killing.

ADOPTED: Indian Army has now donned a new role in J&K by adopting a project to educate the children of Gujjar and Bakkerwals in Pir Panjal range, Jammu. The classes were held for a month at Bhattadurian, Chhatral and Poshiana villages of Poonch district teaching them elementary arithmetic and how to read.

DIED: Mohammed Shafi, 65, resident of Thanwal, Mirpur, PaK since 1965 died of heart attack at his relative’s place at Draba, Rajouri. Shafi crossed over to this side through Chakkan-da-Bagh on October 15, 2012 and was scheduled to return this week. After fulfilling all the legal formalities, the body was taken to Chakkan-da-Bagh LoC point by the police and relatives.

GRIEVED : The accidental death of Tauseef Ali, who died in Dehradaun on 15 Oct, 2012, is being grieved and his presence missed by his friends, Jahangir, Khalid, Faizan, Asgar, Showkat, Huzaib, Yawar reasident of Magam. Tauseef was a student of HMB Garhwal University

ARRESTED: Police have arrested three persons including Manu Karwal, an executive engineer, Sharief-ud-Din, a junior engineer and Lal Din, a civilian in a fake currency racket which originated from Kupwara. They have recovered Rs 65,000 worth fake currency so far in Jewel chowk and Roop Nagar areas. The search for others involved in the racket is still on.

VISITED: The Supreme Court appointed Central Vigilance Committee visited Kashmir in November’s first week to focus on the mode of appointment of dealers, ideal rate of commission payable to dealers, modalities as to how the Vigilance Committees already in place can function in better way and modes at how to implement transparency in allotment of the food stocks sold at the shops. The team is headed by a former Supreme Court judge.

ARRESTED: Police arrested employees including a security guard of SSM college of Engineering and Technology after they allegedly fired upon two persons injuring one of them critically. The injured duo was heading home along with their live stock via SSM college. The employees of the college were detained to investigate as why they opened the fire on civilians.

MANHANDLED: Abdul Rehman Nagoo, an assistant sub inspector was allegedly thrashed by Iftikhar Ansari’s son and nephew while he was filing a challan against them for incomplete documentation, the ASI said. Besides, the driver was using mobile phone while driving. An FIR No.92/2012 under section 353 has been lodged at Kothi Bagh police station against Shafiq Ahmad Qureshi under whose name the vehicle, Ford Fiesta, is registered.

ASKED: The High Court has asked House Boat Owners to shift from their present position to western shore of Dal Lake. The step is taken in view of a PIL filed on conservation of Dal Lake.  Besides, the court has asked government to file a status report on Dal dwellers’ rehabilitation.
