ADJOURNED: High Court justices Virender Singh and J P Singh adjourned the PIL seeking probe into the allegation of land grabbing against certain politicians, bureaucrats and police officers.

CONSTRUCTING: Ignoring all rules and court orders, AltafWani, the former NC MLC is constructing a hut at Veersaran-Khalan, Pahalgham without seeking proper permission from the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA).

DERESERVED: Taking an unusual step, the Cabinet approved the proposal of de-reservation of the reserved posts under PM’s Package for the KP migrants. As there is noreserved category among KP community, the 800 posts among the total of 3000 will now be filled as per the merit.  

REFUSED: Arif Ahmed Bhat alias Pathan’s bail plea was rejected by a court in SouthKashmir. Arif is accused of raping a 4-year-old minor girl in May 2011.

DETECTED: A uniformed man was found on the bathroom window of sub-district hospital Tral when a lady doctor entered in. She was pulled out unconscious by her colleagues. The building, now shifted, is situated between two military camps.

KILLED: Four year old Hangul, a Kashmiri red deer (fawn), was killed by a leopard in ‘Shikargarh breeding centre for endangered animals’. The incident happened only a day after the formal inauguration of the centre.

OBSEREVED: A complete shutdown was observed in Bijbehara town, South Kashmir on the death anniversary of a youth, Nazir Ahmed Wani, 24, who was killed in 2010 unrest. He was shot dead by CRPF troopers and policemen when he was coming out of a mosque, says his family.

ALLOTTED: The state government has approved allotment of 600 kanals for the Kargilcampus of University of Kashmir. Till the campus is ready, the university will function from hostel complex Chutuk.

RECOMMENDED:
SHRC has recommended ex-gratia relief to the family of Maqsood Ahmad.Chairhara Maqsood,son of Abdul Rehman, is missing since 1995.

ASKED:
Union Power Ministry has asked NHPC to provide information regarding the state’s power projects, in particular the 790 MW Salal and 480 MW Uri I power projects, to the Kashmir based civil society group. They have filed an application under RTI act.

STARTED: A 350m span motorised ropeway started over Chenab at Marsoo in Doda will connect population of 10,000 people of 12 villages and hamlets living across the river in the areas of Rajgarh and Saraz. Its estimated cost is Rs 43.61 lakhs.

DUPED: Tanvir and his other two partners Mubhasir and Muzamil have duped at least 50 girls by promising them jobs in his call centre ‘Basis Point-BPS’. All three are presently absconding.Investigations are on to catch the gang.

REARRESTED: Two SPOs’ and two counter insurgents turned Territorial Army members, Gul Mohammed Naik alias Rahi, Ghulam Mohammed Ganai, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Bhat were rearrested for 16 days as directed by the district court, Kulgam. The four had earlier fled from police lines with their service rifles.

CLASHED: Violent clashes broke out between the shopkeepers and police in Islamabad town when the police allegedly beat up the shopkeeper for objecting to the removal of encroachment of the footpath. Later, nine youth were rounded up.

KILLED: Yasir Ahmed Khan, 24, of Kupwara was among three CRPF men killed in a gun fight with Naxals in Gadchiroli area of Maharastra. The 12th pass young man was a CRPF commando.

ASKED: A local court asked the Inspector General of Crime and Railways to file the status report of extradition proceedings of Major Avatar Singh. He is accused of killing noted human rights activist and leading lawyer JaleelAndrabi.

REJECTED:
DNA samples of civilians killed in the recent fake encounter in Surankote, which were earlier rejected in Chandigarh,were again rejected by the forensic experts inHyderabad. Experts found these samples rotten and unfit for conducting tests. The samples were sent by Poonch police and they are now directed to repeat the process again. The body was exhumed again.

CHALLANED: After creation of a special court, CBI presented its first challan against two Chief Engineers of NHPC, BabuLal Gupta and Ashok Kumar Pandey and 10 others in Rs 38 cr electrification contract under Rajiv Gandhi GrameemVidyatikaranYojna (RGGVY). They are accused of using substandard material from unapproved companies.

KIDNAPPED: Altaf Ahmed, an ex militant has allegedly kidnapped a 26-year old married womanfrom Bhangai, Rajouri. Alem Dar, husband of the kidnapped woman, says that Altaf wants to marry his wife and demands divorce from him. Police has rescued Dar’s wife twice from Altaf but he hasn’t been punished yet.

ACQUITTED: Raja Kifayat Ali Khan of ChaliyanaPaK, a final year commerce student at Muzaffarabad University was acquitted by the court after the prosecution failed to produce proper evidence against him. Police claimed to have arrested him from Hyderpora- byepass with four Pakistan made ghee tins allegedly containing 619rounds of ammunition.

QUASHED: The High court quashed the detention orders of 13 PSA detainees including AasiyaAndhari, Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Milat.
