HONOURED:  Bilquees, 26, a Kashmiri woman is the first Indian to be selected as International Technical Official (ITO) for canoeing event. She was honoured at the All Africa Games 2011 at Mapota Mozambique. Bilquees as a canoeing champion and coach has earned many honours in many national and international events.

LAUNCHED:  Dr M M Pallam Raju, MoS, Defence launched ‘Performax’, a performance enhancing herbal composition developed by a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The drug helps to improve physical and mental performance in high altitude and hypoxic condition.  

SEARCHED: A joint team of MHA, CISF, CRPF Commandants and CBI officials searched some of the gun factories at the Industrial Area of Ganyal, Jammu and sought records of gun licenses issued from Jammu district from the offices of Deputy Commissioner and SSP Jammu. The area was visited by the team twice in three days. It is said that the team was trying to trace Green Express that stopped working in 1982 but they were unable to trace it.

RULED: G R Sufi, the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) said that under RTI Act police is answerable to public if they detain any person without warrant. As per the act an application can be filed in local police station and the concerned Station House Officer has to furnish this information within 48 hours.

PLANNING:
SKIMS is planning to procure PET-CT scan machine on public-private partnership basis. In this partnership, private companies are expected to provide the equipment like PET-CT scan in nuclear medicine and the hospital will provide the required manpower.   

DROWNED:
Zahoor Ahmed, 22, selected as a probable for the Ranji Trophy Team from J&K, was drowned in the river Jhelum when his boat capsized. Zahoor working as a labourer was extracting sand from the river when the incident happened.

RECRUITED:
The youth recently recruited in JKP under special recruitment drive are facing problems in getting their verifications done. The problem is faced by about1200 youths; 132 from Khanyar, 300 from Amira kadal, 208 from Eid gah, 200 from Habba kadal and 245 from Zadibal are in the list. These enlisted youth are allegedly involved in 2010 protests.  

REMOVED:
Dr Mehraj-ud din Bhat, gynaecologist along with Dr Saleem, anaesthetist removed a 15 kg cyst from the ovarian gland of a seven-month pregnant lady who came for a regular check up to the hospital.

RELEASED:
Mohammed Shariq, 15, from Kishtwar was released by JKP after 12 days of remand. He was arrested along with Aamir Abbass and Abid Hussain for questioning over one of the emails sent claiming responsibility for the September 7 Delhi high court blast.

RECORD:
Making a record, only one civilian boarded the Poonch-Rawalkote bus. From Rawalkote, 18 PoK guests reached Poonch but there were no returnees of this side. Sources say that permits couldn’t be issued in the absence of mandatory clearance from the Pakistan’s Home Ministry.  

DIRECTED:  High court has directed DGP to constitute a high level Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the killing of Tufail Matoo who was allegedly hit by a tear smoke shell in Rajouri kadal on June 11, 2010. The old SIT, which was constituted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar, has been directed to handover the details to the newly formed SIT.

HOUOURED:
Mr. Satish Nehru , Director JKTDC was honoured by a reward of one month’s salary by Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of Tourism and Culture at the 85thBoard of Directors meeting of Cooperation. Satish was honoured for his all round performance and taking the profit at Rs 3.26 cr last fiscal in the Cooperation.   

RECOMMENDED:
Names of Dr. Sudesh Sharma and Nazir Ahmed Shah are recommended for the appointment of Information commissioners for States Information Commissioner (SIC). Dr Sudesh has been the former dean at Jammu University’s faculty of Law while Nazir Ahmed is presently the Chief Engineer PWD- Kashmir and is going to retire in four months from now.

RAPED:
Charan Das, 39, has allegedly raped Usha Devi, 14 in Bani, Kathua. Usha studies with Charan’s daughter. Police registered a case against the accused under the section 376 of RPC.

VISITING: Mirwaiz Muhammed Umar Farooq is visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah on the invitation of OIC. He left United States for performing this religious practice where he met Mehmood Abbas, President of Palestine and felicitated the Palestinians for taking the brave step to make Palestine a free and independent state.

CROSSED: Reshma Bi, 70, wife of Muhammed Ibrahim Lohar of Churandha, Uri has crossed the border in search of her missing son, Abdul Raheem Lohar. Police has registered a case and launched a search operation for the women.

REVEALED:
A secret note to the Ministry of External Affair (MEA) revealed that there are as many as 50 Chinese incursions in last three months and they have intruded almost 7 Kms inside the Indian territory. The note adds that People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have been violating Indian borders at their own will.  

STOLEN: Burglars looted an ATM along with Rs 9.11 lakh from Budgam. This is a second incident in past one month when a bank machine along with cash has been stolen in Kashmir.  

BLOCKED: 
J&K government has blocked Mohammed Afzal Guru’s request to be transferred to the Central Jail in Srinagar from Tihar, a union home ministry latter says. Ironically, Nasir Aslam Wani, J&K minister for Home appeared clueless about this decision.
