SRINAGAR: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved a multi-crore project for the construction of six foot overbridges (FOBs) along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district.
The proposed pedestrian bridges will be constructed at Jakhani, Bali Nallah, Samroli PMGSY crossing, Ghantwal, Dharamthal and Champeri, according to the details available.
The project is intended to provide safer pedestrian crossing facilities at locations witnessing significant movement of local residents and pilgrims along the busy highway.
The construction of the FOBs is also aimed at improving road safety and reducing the risk of accidents involving pedestrians crossing the highway.
