SRINAGAR: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced two new digital services on the RajmargYatra mobile application—an online Local Pass facility and the AI-enabled MargMitra Help Centre—to enhance services for National Highway users under the Government of India’s Digital India initiative.

According to NHAI, the new citizen-centric features are aimed at making National Highway travel more seamless by expanding digital services, eliminating manual documentation and providing faster access to commuter assistance.
The newly launched Local Pass feature enables eligible commuters to purchase monthly local toll passes digitally through the RajmargYatra app without visiting toll plazas. The facility has been introduced initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi and will be extended to other toll plazas across the country in the coming months.
Under the scheme, residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can obtain a digital Local Pass that allows unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza during the month. Previously, commuters were required to visit toll plazas in person and submit supporting documents to establish eligibility.
NHAI said the new system uses consent-based integration with DigiLocker and VAHAN to retrieve verified details, including residential address, vehicle registration and linked FASTag information. Eligibility is further verified using GIS-based validation, eliminating paperwork while improving transparency, accuracy and user convenience.
The authority has also launched the MargMitra Help Centre, an intelligent digital assistance platform integrated into the RajmargYatra app. Designed as a single-window interface, the platform enables National Highway users to obtain information, seek assistance and register grievances through a conversational interface.
According to NHAI, commuters can type or speak queries in any of the 22 Indian languages, with the platform providing guidance on services such as FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, Annual Pass and Local Pass facilities, and other frequently asked questions.
For complaints requiring official intervention, users can lodge grievances directly through the platform, which automatically routes them to the concerned department for resolution. The Help Centre also allows users to track complaint status in real time and file appeals if dissatisfied with the response.
In addition, MargMitra enables users to check FASTag blacklisting status, view pending e-notices and report road safety concerns, including stalled vehicles and encroachments on National Highways.
NHAI said the latest initiatives build on the success of the RajmargYatra app, through which more than 80 lakh Annual Passes have already been sold with real-time activation. The authority has encouraged National Highway users to download the app on Android and iOS platforms to access the expanding range of digital services aimed at making highway travel safer, smarter and more convenient.
