SRINAGAR: Rajouri Police on Tuesday issued a public advisory urging residents to remain on high alert as continuous heavy rainfall raises the risk of a rapid increase in water levels in rivers and streams across the district.
According to the advisory, the ongoing heavy rainfall could lead to a sudden rise in river levels, increasing the risk of flooding in vulnerable areas.
Police have advised residents to immediately vacate river banks and landslide-prone areas and avoid venturing outdoors unless absolutely necessary.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution, follow official advisories and cooperate with the administration to ensure their safety.
The advisory comes amid heavy rainfall across parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with weather authorities warning of the possibility of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging in vulnerable areas. Officials are closely monitoring the situation, while emergency response agencies remain on alert to deal with any eventuality.
