After recording the statement of Liyaqat Ali Shah’s relatives at Srinagar , the visiting NIA team on Saturday drove to his native village Dardpora in North Kashmiri’s Kupwara Town where it recorded the statements of some other family members of Shah.

“The six member team headed by DIG Pankaj Kumar arrived at 9 am in Dak Bungalow Kupwara where they held meeting with senior Police functionaries and also recorded statement of the then SHO Lolab Shoukat Ahmad Mir.”

Sources told KNS. The team later drove to Dardapora the native village of Shah along with SSP Kupwara M. Irshad Khan and DYSP Lolab. The team recorded the statement of family members and other people of the village.

Sources added that the family in their statement told NIA that a formal request was made to CIK Kupwara some two years back seeking a clearance for return of Liyaqat Ali Shah.

The team also recorded the statement of Shah’s brother Inayat Shah and assured him of justice.

“ We had applied formally for his return and the records could be verified with CIK and CID Kupwara.” Inayat shah told to investigation team.

Later talking to KNS, Inayat said that the team has assured him of justice and said that the head of the team DIG Pankaj told him that the elite central investigating agency was committed to a impartial probe into the matter and the facts would come before every one very soon.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Sarmad hafiz while confirming to KNS,  about the developments said, that the team had arrived In Kupwara on Saturday morning and recorded the statement of various stakeholders.

“They arrived in the morning and had positive meetings with various stake holders including the family members of Liyaqat.” Deputy Commissioner told KNS on Saturday evening.
