Nine army men were injured on Monday evening in an IED blast in Arihal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to official sources, army vehicle was on way at Arihal Pulwama when IED blast hit the vehicle.

In the IED blast, nine army men were injured and the vehicle was also damaged. The injured army men have been referred to hospital for treatment.

Srinagar-based defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said in a statement: “A failed attempt was made to attack a mobile vehicle patrol of 44 RR with a Vehicle-Based IED while the Army patrol was moving in the general area Arihal in district Pulwama today evening.”

He said, “Troops all safe. Few minor injuries. Reports of attack on Army convoy are unfounded and baseless. Area cordoned and search operations in progress.”

“The damage was minimised due to the alertness of the patrol party. It’s a Hardened ALS and not Casspir,” said the spokesman.
