SRINAGAR

The officials at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar are crying foul, accusing the centre of throwing rules to wind every day after with the ‘corruption ruling the roost’.

A delegation of the officials from NIT Srinagar on the condition of anonymity told KNS that this technology hub is undermining the rules and regulations with the recent appointments made despite the clear orders from GOI of not to recruit anyone for the institute.

“More than 12 appointments have been made in the institute during the recent past with some being appointed as computer assistants and some as senior assistants. This is the violation of the government order,” delegation said.

It informed further that ‘no procedure’ is being adopted within the institute for the promotion of the officials as ‘juniors are being made seniors sans any merit and vice versa’.

The officials of the NIT said further that the promotions done in the year 2007 are ‘illegal’ in nature with the persons having less qualification like Matric and under Matric are promoted while as the graduates and the persons having higher qualifications were sidelined.

“Despite several representations were made to the director about the issue but no action on ground has been taken so far,” they said.

The officials while appealing the chairman NIT to intervene into the matter demanded the inquiry be conducted by the CBI into the issue so that the ‘corrupt’   officials could be unmasked before the masses at an earliest.
