Claiming that the state unit of Congress is united, Former Chief Minister of J&K and Union Health Minister, Gulam Nabi Azad refused to accept lobbyism as a matter of major concern for the party in the state.

There is not lobbying in the state unit. Congress is one and will remain one. We will work together and fight upcoming elections as a single unit to get a good number of seats”, Azad said in response to a question while talking to KNS.

The senior Congress leader said he was happy working in the centre and did not miss the Chief Minister’s chair. “I am defiantly not missing CM’s Chair. I am very happy in Delhi as I am getting an opportunity to work for whole of India. As CM I would have got time to work in small area. I will keep working for betterment of life of people in future as well”, Azad said.

“Whatever time of two and a half years I got to work as CM in the state was perhaps all that I was destined to. I got good support and cooperation from all the people for which I am grateful to Almighty”. The former Chief Minister however said his party has taken no decision on the issue of pre-poll alliance with the National Conference.

Azad said elevation of Narendra Modi in the BJP augurs well for Congress party. “Congress has no threat from BJP nor can they harm us. Modi has done what Congress could not do. He has finished BJP”, he said adding “He shooed away BJP’s allies in the NDA and divided the party into two. L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, one ex foreign minister and one ex finance minister are not happy with him. This is a gift from Modi to his party”.
