A day after New Delhi denied separate pandit townships in Kashmir, it has now decided to enhance monthly cash relief for migrants KPs from May 1 this year.
The move is being read to keep KPs in ‘good humour’—some of whom were recently out at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar with “homeland” protest.
With this announcement, migrant KPs will now get Rs 2500 as relief per soul from May 1 maximum to Rs 10,000 for four souls and above.
A letter to this effect was dispatched by union home ministry to state government Wednesday.
Kashmiri migrants were getting relief at the rate of Rs 1650 per soul maximum to Rs 6600 for four souls and above.
Delhi’s latest cash dispensation has fulfilled a long pending demand of KPs, as the proposal for their relief enhancement was submitted to previous state government over one year back.
