Acting tough against drug peddlers, a notorious drug peddler was lodged in District Jail Kathua after booking him under PSA Friday . He was involved in spreading drug addiction in District Kulgam, police said.
A notorious drug peddler Reyaz Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Bugam was involved in case FIR number 174/2014 under section 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Kulgam and FIR number 141/2015 under section 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund was arrested on 14-07-2015. A huge quantity of poppy straw was recovered from him. He is booked under PSA and lodged in District Jail Kathua today.
Meanwhile, continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs, Awantipora Police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered brown sugar from their possession.
Acting on a tip off, Awantipora police headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora laid a naka at main chowk Awantipora. During naka checking a vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-6168 was intercepted. On checking 11.5 grams of brown sugar was recovered from the vehicle. Three persons Muzaffar Ahmad Wani son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Khanmooh, Ashiq Hussain Dar son of Abdul Razaq resident of Khanmooh and Mohammad Shafi Sheikh son of Abdul Rashid resident of Sathpakhrean who were boarding the vehicle were arrested.
Awantipora police registered a case FIR number 49/2016 under section 8/21-29 NDPS act against them and investigation was taken up.
