The examination, originally conducted on May 3, was cancelled by the NTA on May 12, with a re-test scheduled for June 21. The agency had earlier clarified that no fee would be charged for the fresh examination and that all previously paid fees would be refunded to candidates.
In continuation of earlier public notices issued on May 12 and May 22, the NTA had opened a facility on the NEET (UG)-2026 registration portal between May 22 and May 26 (till 11:50 pm) for candidates to submit their bank account details for processing refunds.
In a notice issued via X, the agency stated that around 13 lakh candidates have already updated their bank details. It added that the deadline has been extended to assist those who are yet to complete the process.
The NTA said candidates can log in to the official registration portal using their credentials and submit their bank account details through the refund link. It also advised candidates to upload a cancelled cheque, if available, to ensure accuracy of banking information. Once submitted, the details will be treated as final, with no further modifications permitted.
Nearly 23 lakh candidates had registered for the examination. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing allegations of irregularities related to the exam.
