SRINAGAR: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared re-revised results for the NEET-UG 2024 examination, following a Supreme Court directive. The revision, which involved updates to the answer key, has affected candidates’ ranks and scores across the country.
The NEET-UG 2024 was conducted on May 5, 2024, at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international locations. A re-examination was held on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who faced disruptions during the original test. Of the 24,060,79 registered candidates, 23,332,97 appeared.
This year’s top rankers, including Mridul Manya Anand (Delhi), Ayush Naugraiya (Uttar Pradesh), and Mazin Mansoor (Bihar), achieved perfect scores of 720. Among female candidates, Prachita (Rajasthan) and Palansha Agarwal (Maharashtra) led with the same score. The exam saw notable diversity, with papers offered in 13 languages, including Hindi, English, and Urdu, and conducted in international centres such as Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Singapore.
The revised results, mandated by the Supreme Court, brought changes to the All India Rank (AIR) of candidates, particularly those near the cut-off. The qualifying cut-off increased across categories, with the Unreserved/EWS cut-off rising from 137 to 162 marks, and the OBC/SC/ST range shifting to 127-161 marks. Of the registered candidates, 58.44 per cent of qualifiers were female, an increase from 57.21per cent in 2023. Category-wise, OBC candidates formed the largest group of registrants, followed by General, SC, ST, and EWS categories.
Admissions for 15 per cent of All India Quota (AIQ) seats, including those in Deemed Universities and Central Universities, will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). State counselling authorities will oversee the remaining 85 per cent of seats. In cases of tied scores, rankings will be determined by marks in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, followed by fewer incorrect answers.
