SRINAGAR: An old hand grenade was recovered near a river in Pandrass village of Drass Kargil on Tuesday, officials said.
The explosive was found at the same location where an oil tanker had overturned a day earlier. Upon noticing the suspicious object, the concerned police unit was immediately informed.
Officials said the police subsequently alerted the Army, following which a joint team of the Army and police reached the spot.
After assessing the situation, the explosive device was safely disposed of at the site in a controlled manner, averting any potential danger.
