National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the drowning death of two youth in Beenyaar, Uri who were drowned in the Beenyaar Nallah after water from the Lower Jehlum Power Project was released into the Nallah without any due warning or alarm being sounded. The NC Working President has expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families and demanded ex-gratia compensation to their families.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Senior NC Leader and MLA Uri, Mohammad Shafi Uri while condemning this incident and expressing profound grief and sorrow with the families of the victims has demanded an immediate probe into the circumstances leading to this tragedy. “My heart goes out to the families of these two young boys. This is a very tragic incident and the Administration should order a high-level probe to ascertain why no alarm was sounded before waters from the Power Project were released into the Nallah.
