As per sources, no cabinet expansion discussions have occurred so far. While the decision could ultimately rest with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, no immediate plans or deliberations are underway, they added.

JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra also clarified that there have been no discussions regarding Congress taking or being offered ministerial positions. However, he suggested that such talks might be happening in Delhi.

“There has been no communication or proposal at the state level regarding Congress’s involvement in the cabinet,” Karra said. “To the best of my knowledge, nothing has occurred here. However, discussions could potentially be taking place in Delhi, though I am not part of any such conversations.”

Karra further stated that Congress has received indications that a ‘roadmap’ for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood is being prepared. “We are waiting for assurances on this matter. Once there is clarity, we will decide accordingly,” he said.

Addressing Congress’s relationship with its ally, the National Conference (NC), Karra clarified recent remarks by JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, which he claimed were misinterpreted. “Omar Abdullah correctly stated that Congress is not part of the cabinet but supports the government from the outside,” Karra explained.

He also hinted at concerns over reports suggesting the government might retain control over key departments. “If such plans materialise, we will evaluate the assurances provided and decide our stance,” Karra added.
