SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to review the state’s preparedness for harsh winter conditions. Emphasising uninterrupted delivery of essential services, Abdullah directed all departments to prioritise public welfare and ensure robust responses to weather-related challenges.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to focus on snow clearance, uninterrupted power and water supplies, and availability of essential commodities such as fuel and food. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining road connectivity, especially to hospitals, power grids, and other critical installations, a DIPR statement issued to press reads.
The meeting reviewed measures for ensuring sufficient medical supplies, heating systems in healthcare facilities, and transport for expecting mothers in remote areas. Helicopter services for snowbound regions and water tankers for affected areas were also discussed.
Omar Abdullah called for coordinated efforts, round-the-clock district control rooms, and proactive approaches to minimise public inconvenience during the winter. He assured residents of the government’s commitment to their welfare and safety.
