National Conference Working president Omar Abdullah Saturday trained guns at union defence minister, Manohar Parrikar for his “terrorist killing terrorist” strategy and alleged that it has triggered a killing spree in restive Sopore.

“His remark of killing militants by militants has already shown ugly results in Sopore where a killing spree has started,” Omar told a gathering of hundreds of party supporters in Srinagar’s Regal Chowk. Other than attacks on telecom towers, four civilian killings has spread a wave of terror in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Omar also lashed at the incumbent chief minister of state, Mufti Sayeed for his U-turn politics. “PDP would promise relief to flood-hit during poll campaigns,” Omar flanked with NC’s who’s who told his party workers. “But the sad part is: while govt had come, relief remains elusive.”

The third generation Abdullah and former JK chief minister also castigated Mufti for taking “U-turn” on AFSPA, political prisoners and other poll promises. “Today, we have hit the road to send a strong message that we won’t let the govt to backtrack from its poll promises,” he said.

While highlighting the plight of flood-hit, Omar said that his govt’s Rs 44,000 flood package was shrugged off and literally downplayed by Mufti’s deputy CM and BJP man, Dr Nirmal Singh. He also expressed his concern over the inroads being made by RSS and BJP in Kashmir. “All decisions regarding Jammu and Kashmir happen first in Nagpur, then with Modi ji and then here,” said Omar.

Later Omar marched up to Lal Chowk with his support group by breaking police cordon, hurled his party’s flag at embankment of Ganta Ghar before hurriedly leaving the spot.
