Terming the “oppression and harassment” of the people of Kashmir by government as aimed at forcing them to give up their ongoing just struggle, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Monday said that the tactics like using “black draconian” laws and massive presence of its forces to commit “human rights violations” in Kashmir was not going to cow down the people of Kashmir and make them to give up their “legitimate struggle”, a statement of the amalgam issued here read.

Expressing grief and sympathy with the families of the five civilians killed in the firing by government forces in Handwara and Kupwara recently, a delegation of Hurriyat (m) led by Bilal Gani Lone said these killings were an example of the high handedness of the government. He said the pro-Indian political parties were “shedding crocodile tears” in order to do their petty politics, he said the people of Kashmir understand everything.

Expressing solidarity with the victim families on behalf of the entire Hurriyat leadership, Lone said their sacrifices offered for a great cause would not go waste.

Meanwhile, condemning the continued confinement of a 16-year-old Handwara school girl in police custody, an APHC spokesman said this was a gross violation of human rights and by keeping her in custody like that has made her vulnerable.
