SRINAGAR: Over 3,200 roads, covering a length of 19,324.72 km, have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Rural Development informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
A total of 3,437 roads and 305 bridges, with a project value of Rs 14,810 crore, have been sanctioned in the Union Territory as of December 02, 2024.
Of these sanctioned projects, 217 bridges have been completed, with a cumulative expenditure of Rs 12,610 crore, including the Union Territory (UT) share, according to data.
As per the Health Dynamics of India (Infrastructure & Human Resources) 2022-23 report, as of March 31, 2023, 198 Sub-Centres, 65 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and 3 Community Health Centres (CHCs) are operational in the tribal areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring comprehensive rural development, focusing on enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, and connectivity. “Through initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the government aims to provide all-weather road connectivity, improving access to essential services,” it said.
