A day after former J&K Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad said Prime Minister Narendra Modi owes an explanation to people over civilian killings in Sopore, the BJP Thursday said that Sopore like incidents are not new in Kashmir and that the Prime Minister does not need to issue a statement.

“Azad is issuing irresponsible statements. We are against terrorism and will never allow them to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The Sopore like incidents are not new in Kashmir and that the Prime Minister does not need to issue statement over the every subject,” BJP MP and J&K affairs in-charge Avinash Rai Khana told KNS over phone from New Delhi.

He said after losing power in centre as well as in Jammu and Kashmir the Congress is issueless and is issuing non-serious statements. “They want to destabilize the peace in Kashmir but BJP will not allow them to succeed,” he said.

Asked that opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir have expressed dissatisfaction over the amount of funds released by the Union government for rehabilitation of flood victims, Khana claimed that Rs 1667 Crore was not the final package.

“Centre announced an additional package of Rs 1667 Crore for reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir. Let the state government utilize this package first then more will be announced by the central government,” he said.

Azad had said it is moral responsibility of both PM and Defence Minister to explain to people of India and people of J&K what is going on in Kashmir.

“It is for the first time in history of Kashmir that no militant organization has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The state government is ignorant and police doesn’t know who is doing it.  This is something that is unheard of,” he had said.
