JAMMU

In a significant boost for the BJP ahead of polling, over one lakh Pakistani refugees have announced to support the party’s candidate in Jammu.

Leader of the refugees group Labha Ram Gandhi has declared on behalf of the group to back BJP candidate Jugal Kishore on Jammu seat.

A substantial number of Pakistani refugees live in the three districts- Jammu, Samba and Kathua of the State and it is believed that their support to the BJP would strongly boost the poll prospects of the party in Jammu region.

Pertinently, in March 26 rally in Hira Nagar town of Kathua district, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had promised to give all rights of citizens to the group if his party is voted to power.

The group is entitled to vote for Lok Sabha election but cannot exercise their franchise for the State’s Assembly elections. They are also devoid of the right to apply for Government jobs and own property in the State according to the provisions of the special Constitutional provisions.
