Reacting to the prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s statement that let the Parliament decided on return of Afzal Guru’s body from Tihar jail to his family, CPI (M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the Parliament has nothing to do with such a decision and the government of India must not delay the return of Guru’s body.

In a statement issued here today, Tarigami said the decision on return of body is purely executive and does not need any debate, discussion or voting in Parliament. “I think it is purely discretion of government of India to consider the demand of return of Guru’s body in order to correct one of its wrongs committed in the whole episode,” the CPI (M) leader added.
