Expressing dissatisfaction over the response from Police in solving cases of theft, the Power Development Department (PDD) has taken up the issue with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) asking it to ensure security of transformers.

Local News agency, KNS quoting sources reported that  power transformers in various areas of Srinagar were damaged after oil from these machines was stolen by unknown people, resulting these areas into darkness.

“Oil from the transformers was stolen in various areas of Srinagar which rendered these machines dysfunctional and damaged”, departmental sources said adding the PDD had taken up the matter with police and two cases were registered in Police Station Humhama and Saddar respectively.

Sources alleged that there was no response from the police and it remained clueless in the matter.

“PDD has apprehension of great loss if the theft continues. It has taken up the matter with CRPF asking it to keep an eye on the culprits and provide help in catching them”, quoted KNS.
