Newly appointed Chief Secretary of J&K, Muhammad Iqbal Khanday Tuesday said peace, progress and development of the state would be his top priority.

He said that he would put every effort for welfare of state’s people and ensuring delivery of justice to the needy.

However, he said deciding on policy matters was a prerogative of the state government. “Being public servants, we will put every effort to ensure implementation of the directives and policies of the government to ensure all round development of the state”, said Khanday while talking to KNS.

While admitting that people had great expectations from him as the top bureaucrat of the state, the Chief Secretary said he would put every possible effort to come up to the expectation of the people of the state.

In response to a question as to how he would go ahead on the long standing demands of the state employees, who have launched several phases of agitation for fulfillment of their demands, he said, “I will look into every aspect of the matter. We wish to have good relations with the employees of the state for the benefit of people of the state”.

Wishing the employees of the state well, he said the government will look into the demands of the state employees.
With regard to issues like delayed disposal of files, lack of accountability and work culture in the state, he said ‘being new to the post, he would look into all issues. “However, at this time I cannot comment on it”, he added.
