Dozens of youth who received injuries on Friday during protest in Khrew area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district while two among them were seriously injured and have been shifted to New Delhi for specialized treatment.

According to locals, almost 12 youth received injuries during the peaceful protest in Khrew area on Friday.

Gowher Ahmed Sheikh, 18 and Iqbal Ahmad Shiekh, 17, had received injuries in their eyes during the protests against government trucks carrying cement from the industrial area. “The two youth, who sustained major injuries were shifted to New Delhi’s hospital for specialized treatment,” said one of the relatives of injured youth.”

The residents alleged that Para-military CRPF troopers ransacked their window panes and thrashed the inhabitants including women.

Meanwhile, a day after the clashes erupted between youth and forces in Khrew area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, authorities imposed curfew like restrictions in the area to thwart any possible protests by the residents.

While talking to KNS, the tuckers who are on strike since last 47 days said that they will not allow SRTC vehicles to load and unload cement from the factories in the area.

The truckers of Halqa Nagandar had been at loggerhead with the Zaffron Truck union over ferrying cement from the local cement industries.
