Protests erupted in Lari-Preng area of Kangan in Ganderbal district on Thursday against a braid-chopping incident that took place last night.
The protesters, raising slogans blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at Preng, disrupting the traffic movement on the highway.
Meanwhile, reports said that police have reached the spot and are trying to pacify the protesters.
Hair of over 100 women and young girls has been mysteriously chopped off across the Valley during past month.
Police have formed Special Investigation Teams to probe the incidents. However, so far the police and the authorities have been clueless.
