SRINAGAR: Preparations for Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to Srinagar on March 7 have been finalised, The Hindu reported. This marks PM Modi’s first visit of its kind to Kashmir since the Centre abrogated Article 370 in 2019.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, security measures have been intensified, particularly around the Sheri-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), the venue for his rally. State BJP leaders, including Ravinder Raina and Ashok Koul, are set to arrive on March 2 to engage with local BJP members and ensure their active participation in the PM’s event.
“PM Modi is scheduled to address a public rally and meet various delegations during his stay in Srinagar. Kashmir remains close to the heart of PM Modi. He celebrated Diwali in Srinagar when floods hit the Valley. His popular radio programme ‘Mann ki baat’ always mentions Kashmir, whether it’s nadru farming (lotus stem), snow cricket or tourism. PM Modi has a lot of love and affection for the people of JK,” BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur as quoted by The Hindu said.
As the Lok Sabha polls approach, party sources indicated that BJP members urged the PM to hold a public rally in south Kashmir. This will be the second visit by the PM to JK since February 20.
