Police Arrest Decade-Long Absconder in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have arrested a long-time absconder who had been evading capture for years.

The accused, Rattan Chand, son of Vikru Chand and a resident of Gurah Kalyal, Billawar, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 45/2013, registered under sections 366, 376 and 343 of the Ranbir Penal Code at Achabal Police Station on May 15, 2013. He was tracked down and apprehended in Mahanpur, Basohli, in Kathua district following sustained efforts and coordinated surveillance.

Police said the individual has been taken into custody and will be produced before the concerned court for further legal proceedings.

The arrest, officers noted, reflects the JK Police’s continued commitment to ensuring that absconders face justice and that the rule of law is upheld across the region.
