Police on Monday arrested four persons following a credible input of gambling offences in Tarzoo area of Sopore.
Besides arrest of four gamblers police have also seized playing cards and stake money of rupees 48,000 from the gamblers. In this regard, Police registered a case under FIR number No 05/2019 under section 13 Gambling Act at Police Station Tarzoo.
The spokesman said that community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. Community members can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue.
Meanwhile, police in Bandipora arrested three gamblers at the gambling spot and recovered stake money of rupees 1230 and playing cards.
Police said that three persons identified as Tariq Ahmad Parray, son of M Sikander Parray, Ajaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar and Shabir Ahmad Parray, son of M Amin Parray, all resident of Hajin were arrested along with stake money.
A case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Hajin. Police have resolved to deal firmly with anti-social elements.
