Hajin police has arrested a constable deployed in Armed Police 3rd Battalion for abducting an ReT teacher from Preng Hajin in North Kashmir’s Sonawari tehsil. Police has also recovered the girl and registered a case against the culprits and his associates.

Police sources told CNS that Constable Muhammad Rafiq Dar son of Muhammad Shafi (Belt number 808) abducted a girl (name withheld) from Preng area when she was on way. The girl according to police was forcibly bundled into a Sumo and was taken to Bhaderwah district. Police swung into action after the family of the girl lodged a complaint in police station Hajin.

Station House Officer Hajin, Nisar Ahmed told CNS that police recovered the abducted girl from Badherwah however, the medical report indicates that she was not sexually exploited.

“Besides arresting the culprit, police have also arrested the Sumo Driver Mudasir Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar, and other associates of the abductor including Noor Muhammad,” he said adding that a case vide FIR number 104/2013 under section 109, 366 of RPC has been registered in this regard.

SDPO Sumbal, Irshad Ahmed told CNS that the abductor was arrested with the cooperation extended by Armed Police 3rd Battalion to police. “We have registered a case against the abductors and soon a challan will be produced in the Court of Law against the culprits,” he said.

Meanwhile, the locals have demanded stern punishment to the abductors and have thanked police for recovering the girl within shortest possible time.
