SRINAGAR: Police in Sopore have detained a criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) following formal detention orders issued by the competent authority.
The detainee, identified as Rafiq Ahmad Khan, son of Mutawali Khan, and a resident of Khudwani Ladu Ladoora Rafiabad, has been transferred to District Jail Udhampur. According to a police spokesperson, Khan had a history of engaging in illegal activities despite multiple criminal cases registered against him.
The police noted that the detention was necessary to maintain law and order and prevent further offences. “The decisive action was taken in response to his continuous engagement in unlawful activities, posing a threat to the safety and security of the public,” the spokesperson said. (KNO)
