SRINAGAR: Awantipora Police have busted an illegal fuel distribution network in Pampore town, seizing 18,797 litres of petroleum substances during coordinated raids at multiple locations.
The operation, spearheaded by DySP (Probationary) Shravan Singh, Station House Officer of Police Station Pampore, was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, RP Singh. The joint enforcement effort also included officers from the Revenue Department (Naib Tehsildar Pampore), the Legal Metrology Department, and the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police team raided various sites across Pampore, unearthing unauthorised storage and illegal trade in kerosene oil, high-speed diesel (HSD), and motor spirit (petrol). According to officials, the fuel was stored using a systematic but illicit mechanism designed for illegal sale and distribution.
The seized fuel volumes were accurately verified on-site by the Metrology Department, confirming a total of 18,797 litres. The accused individuals have been identified as Mudassir Nabi Dar alias Bolla, son of Gh Nabi Dar from Samboora; Danish Mushtaq Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat from Bilal Colony, Kadalbal Pampore; and Rameez Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat from Meej Pampore.
A case under FIR No. 68/2025 has been registered at Police Station Pampore, and further investigation is currently underway. Police officials stated that anyone found engaging in such illegal practices will be dealt with strictly as per the law.
