SRINAGAR: The Kashmir region continued to experience unusually high temperatures on Monday, with several areas recording temperatures significantly above the seasonal average.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5°C, which was 6.3°C above normal. Qazigund saw 33.6°C (6.2°C above normal), while Pahalgam touched 30.6°C, 5.8°C above the normal range. Kupwara recorded 34.7°C (5.0°C above normal), Kokernag 33.2°C (6.0°C above normal), and Gulmarg 26.0°C, also 6.0°C above the average.
In contrast, temperatures in parts of the Jammu region remained below normal. Jammu recorded 34.1°C, 3.5°C below the seasonal norm. Katra and Bhaderwah registered 30.7°C and 33.2°C respectively, with Katra being 4.1°C and Bhaderwah 2.7°C below normal. Batote recorded 28.2°C (0.1°C below normal), while Banihal was at 30.6°C, 1.5°C above normal.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded 31.5°C and Kargil 34.6°C, both relatively high for the region.
The persistently high temperatures across the Valley come amid growing concerns of prolonged heat conditions, with authorities urging the public to take necessary precautions.
