Police have cracked a blind murder of a lady who was found dead in a Nallah in Ishu Gadole in Kokernag area of Islamabad district in South kashmir.

“The culprits including her husband and in-laws have been arrested by the police,” a police statement said Monday afternoon.

According to District Police authorities, “on 10th May, police recovered a female body from a Nallah Ishu Gadole in Kokernag area. The body was later identified as Zareena Begum @ Zaina  wife of Showkat Ahmad Chowhan resident of Ishu Gadole Kokernag. A case FIR No. 63/2015 under section 302 RPC was registered in police station Kokernag and investigation was taken up.”

The post mortem of the body was conducted and after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to her father for last rites, the statement said.

An investigating team including Inspector Tariq Ahmad SHO P/S Kokernag, ASI Abdul Rashid, HC Mohammad Yousuf, HC Mushtaq Ahmad and headed by Sh. Mohammad Aslam Dy.SP Kokernag was constituted to solve the murder mystery.

“The team worked tirelessly and in a short span of time the investigation led to the arrest of the husband of the deceased namely Showkat Ahmad Chowhan son of Mohammad Qasim Chowhan,” the statement said adding, “during his questioning, he revealed that to settle a matrimonial dispute with his wife, he along with his father Mohammad Qasim Chowhan, brother Mohammad Ashraf Chowhan and brother-in-law Bashir Ahmad Char all residents of Ishu Gadole strangulated her by her scarf till she died. He admitted that to avoid detection they threw her body in the Ishu Nallah.”

All the culprits have been arrested and are behind bars, the statement concluded.
