Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday claimed to have solved a theft case and recovered stolen property from the possession of the accused in Hazratbal area of Srinagar.
The spokesman in a statement said that a written complaint was received by Police Station Nigeen a few months back, wherein it was stated that some unknown thief/thieves took away purse containing some cash of a lady doctor at Habak Health Centre.
“On this complaint, a case FIR No 144/2017 under section 454, 380 RPC was registered and an investigation was taken up,” the spokesman said.
During an investigation, many suspects were rounded up and put on sustained questioning. During questioning and using technical assistance one suspect identified as Rayees Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Aslam Sheikh resident of Mirzabagh Hazratbal confessed his crime and on his disclosure stolen property was recovered, a spokesman said.
