Various political, religious and social organizations, while condemning desecration of religious symbols and violence among muslim groups have appealed people to maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood at all costs.

Ullema, religious scholars and separatist leadership have called for maintenance of tranquility among muslims and asked people to defeat inimical forces hell bent upon dividing muslims of the valley and tarnishing the image of Kashmiri muslims.

Agencies hell bent upon creating tension between Kashmiri Muslims: Mirwaiz

Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called upon the people, especially youth, to maintain unity and mutual bonhomie so as to foil the evil designs of enemies who want to divide the Kashmiri society.

Mirwaiz asserted that the agencies were hell bent upon to create tension between the Kashmiri Muslims and break the mutual bonhomie existing here since ages. He said as a part of their (agencies) well planned conspiracy, they want to break the social fabric of Kashmir as it suits vested their vested interests.

Stressing that lakhs of people were made hostage in their homes by clamping indefinite curfew in Srinagar, especially in old city, APHC Chairman expressed serious concern over the restrictions laid on the movement of people.

Mirwaiz also resented the alleged wanton arrest of dozens of youth and ransacking of houses and beating of inmates by the police during the nocturnal raids conducted in old city. He said it was highly shameful and a matter of concern that those youth who were not present in their houses, their elder parents were picked up and put behind bar.

APHC Chairman informed that one Sajjad Ahmad, a physically challenged person told them that the police raided their house On Tuesday morning. Ahmad said that the police was looking for his brother, Sarfaraz Ahmad. During the raid, Ahmad said the police beat the inmates, broke appliances and windowpanes and ransacked the house as they detained his age old father, Sheikh Ghulam Qadir and dragged him out of the home. Another person Mohamad Hussain was also detained after he was dragged out of the house.

Mirwaiz said dozens of shopkeepers have also been arrested by the police. On the instruction of APHC Chairman, a delegation led by Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam visited the detained youth and shopkeepers. The Mirwaiz has demanded immediate release of the youth.

Don’t fall to conspiracy of forces: Shabir Shah

Democratic freedom party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has appealed to the Shias and Sunis that they should hold the bond of brotherhood with strong hands under any circumstances and should not fell prey to the conspiracy forces.
“We have been fighting together the freedom struggle from the last 65 years and we should keep that in mind while facing the forces that are hell bent upon disturbing the unity of  our community,” he said adding that the religious inscription on a foreign product in a conspiracy against us.

“We should let anybody to take advantage of anything and should not let them create a divide between Shia and Suni community. We are one and we should create any divide between ourselves. We as a responsible should not let the conspiracy forces to create any kind of barrier between us, he said.

There are anti-Islam forces headed by America who want to disturb our unity and take advantage out of that situation. “We have to collectively fight against them in one voice and not against one another. Shia-Sunni unity is the way to fight against these evil forces ,” Shah said.

Waza for unity among ranks of people, leadership

Mean while senior Peoples League leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza Waza has said that reiterating that the ongoing liberation movement is in the final stage at this stage we should show the unity among the ranks of people and leadership.

Waza said it is the duty of religious scalars and social scalars to come forward in this difficult hours and show unity among the ranks of people waza said we should not forget our martyrs blood and we should take efforts to take this moment to its logical conclusion and maintained that the Kashmir dispute can be resolved by implementing the relevant UN resolutions.

Waza said that the people of Kashmiri had been rendering matchless sacrifices for securing their right to self-determination. He pointed out that it was the responsibility of India to honour the commitments made by its leaders before the UN to settle the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris aspirations.

Matter of utter shame, disgrace: Zamarud Habib

“This is a moment of utter shame and disgrace that our people haven’t accumulated the wisdom despite being under continual occupation from last sixty years” said Muslim Khwateen Markaz Chairperson Anjum Zarmud Habib.

She expressed immense grief and sadness over the ‘shoe’ incident. “This callous mistreatment of each other as Muslims and citizens does not represent the oppressed people who are fighting the illegal/immoral occupation of Indian state. We the women of Muslim Khwateen Markaz wish to warn the people of the consequences of such actions for the long term goal of ‘freedom’ of Kashmir. It is time that we must contemplate upon who is benefitting from clamping us down. The Indian authorities with the excuse of safe guarding us against communal tensions have conducted raids to pick up innocent kids while Muslims were busy fighting each other. It is a shame that the lessons haven’t been learned yet”, she said in a statement issued here.

Anjum  urges and encourages women of both communities to come forward and break the silence over these incidents that are meant at weakening us. We urge people to indulge in activities that will enhance our understanding of each other and especially women must play the role of wisdom by respecting difference and flourishing unity, the statement added.

An attempt to hurt sentiments of Muslims: Mufti Bashiruddin

Grand Mufti of the state and Chairman J&K Muslim Personal Law Board, Mufti Bashiruddin has condemned the shoe company for what he called ‘provocative and condemnable’ act on the eve of Muharram. He said these attempts were aimed at hurting the sentiments of muslims all across the globle incudling Kashmir valley. He appealed people to maintain peace and harmony in testing times as according to him such dastardly acts are actually aimed at dividing muslims.

JAH expresses concern

Meanwhile, Jamiat e Ahli Hadees has while expressing concern has said attempts were being made to harm the mutual harmony and brotherhood among muslims. Jamiat General Secretary, Abdul Rahman Bhat while talking to KNS said it was incumbent upon every muslim to uphold the virtues of brotherhood. He termed the recent incidents of hurting sentiments and resulting skirmishes as unfortunate and avoidable.

Nayeem Khan expresses sadness:

Jammu and Kashmir Nationla Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has expressed sadness over the recent incidents and said they are a result of anti-mulsim forces’ designs to divide muslims. He said inimical forces hell bent upon dividing muslims were active is Kashmir whose aim is to engage people in such matters so that they forget the freedome struggle. He asked responsible citizens and religious leaders to come forward to defeat the anti-muslim forces and ensure mutual peace and harmony.

Naqash for mutal brotherhood.

Among others who appealed for peace and brotherhood among muslims include M Yousuf Naqash of the Islamic Political Party, who appealed people to defeat anti-islam forces by maintaining peace and mutual brotherhood.
