Continuing with its post flood renewed focus on financial literacy and its vitality in ensuring a smooth, formal and reliable socio-economic empowerment coupled with energetic pursuance of Prime Minister’s Jhan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY), J&K Bank organized dozens of financial literacy camps, short-term skill development and entrepreneurship development programmes across state, a company statement said on Thursday.
Giving details about various camps, the statement said that district development commissioner Bandipora Dr. Shah Faisal inaugurated the residential batch at RSETI Bandipora for the flood victims of district Bandipora earlier this week. Speaking on the occasion Faisal hailed Bank’s initiative of conducting residential programmes especially for flood victims of the District Bandipora.
Director RSETI Bandipora Mir Pervaz Ahmad highlighted the performance of the institute and informed that many such and other viable programmes would be conducted in the district in future also.
Bandipora camps
FLCC Bandipora conducted various awareness programmes during the previous weeks at various places in the district including Brar, Keema, Zuri Mainz, Gujar Pati Aragam, Kani Bathi, Ajass, Nesbal and Tangpora Sumbal. In the camps organized in community halls and open air, Abdul Satar Najar, Facilitator FLCC Bandipora made the locals aware about the Bank’s product and service offerings, benefits of PMJDY especially the insurance cover, overdraft option and the Debit Rupay Card facilities that it comes with. A good number of Savings Bank accounts under PMJDY Scheme were also opened on spot. The participants who mostly deal in agricultural, Handicrafts & Fishery business were made aware about the various schemes of the Bank regarding the development of their business in these fields.
Baramulla Camps
FLCC Baramulla organized a series a financial literacy and credit counselling camps in different areas of the district including Yedipora in Rafiabad, Wanigam and Aglar in Pattan, Chakla in Janpazpora Baramulla and other remote areas in collaboration with local business units and RSETIs.
A base level orientation training programme for three farmer clubs was organized by J&K Peoples Welfare Institute and Research Centre Baramulla in Collaboration with FLCC Centre Baramulla and other line departments at Dak Bungalow Baramulla on 20th January. Three farmer clubs viz Unique Farmers Club Azadgunj, Janbaz Farmers Club Janbazpora and Himalaya Farmers Club Delina participated in the training programme. Representatives from Horticulture Department, Agriculture department, NABARD and other related departments also participated in the aforementioned camps in a coherent and coordinated effort to serve people by increasing their level of financial awareness, matters of financial inclusion and advantages of adopting modern techniques and latest technological solutions. PMJDY was a special focus area from the financial inclusion perspective.
Entrepreneurship Development programme in Rajouri
J&K Bank RSETI Rajouri wrapped up its General Entrepreneurship Development Programme on 21st of January 2015. Speaking on the occasion Anoop Bhat, LDM Rajouri educated the trainees about the different schemes launched by state governments as well as by Banks for the betterment of rural youth.
While speaking on the occasion Director RSETI Harjinder Singh Sasan said that main mission of institute is to train the unemployed men & women to create self-employment habit & root up the unemployment from society by conducting such training programmers on regular basis. He also assured the trainees that all possible help shall be provided them for their credit linkage and a hand holding support for two years after training.
